Pau Coll
Photography and Participatory Workshops

(Badalona 1983) Studied photography at the l’Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics of Catalonia and specialized in photojournalism and documentary photography. In 2005, he joined with five other photographers and formed the organization RUIDO Photo where he works now.

He has produced different photographic reports and documentaries in Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico, Cuba, El Salvador, Algeria, Nepal, Europe, accumulating experience in jails in different cities, refugees or humanitarian emergencies. He has also developed different social projects of participatory photography highlighting ACV, projects of community intervention through photography in different Catalan prisons.

He has published the book, “Testimonis de l’oblit, el poble Saharauí a l’exili” for the ONG Catalana “Amics del Poble Saharauí” (2008). Also, he has published the book “Kuidado ke muerden” about the punk movement in the island of Cuba (editorial Banizu Nizuke 2012) and has received different international and national awards for photography: highlighting “Objetivo Abierto”, organized by the government of Valencia and the news agency EFE (2009), finalist award for investigative journalism Gabriel García Márquez (2013), and finalist of the Alexia Foundation scholarship (2014). He has produced the documentary “Un any a presó” about the life in prison of five immigrants in the juvenile jail of Catalonia; this piece has been shown in different festivals of human rights and on television.

Currently Pau Coll is a professor of photojournalism in the CFD (centro de Fotografía Documental de Barcelona) and IEFC (Institut d’Estudis Fotografics de Catalunya) and collaborates with teachers in different centers of photography around Barcelona.
